Marriott Vacation ClubÂ
Marriott Vacation Club is one of the best known and successful timeshare companies in the world, with 54 Marriott timeshare resorts in the U.S., Caribbean, Asia and Europe. Now an independently operated company under the Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation, over 400,000 owners call Marriott home during their vacations.
Just about everyone has heard of the Marriott hospitality brand, but many don’t realize that Marriott was the first major brand to enter the timeshare industry when, in 1984, they took over American Resorts on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. This resort later became Marriott's Monarch at Sea Pines and the history of the Marriott timeshare program began.
Nowadays, Marriott Vacation Club resorts can be found in such exotic locations as Aruba, Thailand and the Costa del Sol in Spain. However, their U.S. locations continue to be the backbone of the company, where Marriott timeshare owners can choose from great destinations such as Miami, Lake Tahoe, Vail and Maui in addition to the traditional timeshare locations like Orlando, Las Vegas and Myrtle Beach.
Marriott Exchange
One of the big benefits of owning a Marriott Vacation Club timeshare is the demand for the product, especially the high exchange value it provides. As an owner, you have the ability to exchange the use of your week through exchange company Interval International, trading the use of your week for a vacation stay at any of the 2,500 resorts throughout the world which are part of the Interval network.
Marriott owners would need to become a member of Interval International in order to access the program. Once an owner becomes an II member, they would exchange the use of their week for a vacation at either another Marriott resort or one of the additional resorts in the network. Other options, such as cruises or organized tours, are also available.
Marriott Timeshares
Buying a Marriott timeshare directly from an owner here at BuyaTimeshare.com means you are treated with the same high quality level of care at the resort as if you bought directly from Marriott. While you are lounging poolside, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that you paid significantly less for your week than the people sitting next to you who paid 2-3 times more through the resort.
Because resorts have to cover sales and marketing costs, Marriott Vacation Club charges much more for their products at the resort. But here’s the deal – Marriott doesn’t even sell traditional weeks through their resorts anymore. If you want a week of timeshare at a Marriott resort, you can only buy it on the resale market because Marriott only offers a points program for sale at their resorts. So by buying a Marriott week here, you’re not only saving money but you’re getting the exact week at the specific resort you want to visit without playing the game of Russian roulette through a points program, hoping you can get the week you want. Â
Marriott Points Program
As mentioned earlier, Marriott Vacation Club sells a points-based program through its resorts, having introduced this program in 2010 as the Destinations Ownership Program. Through this points program, owners receive an annual allotment of Vacation Club points that can be redeemed for a vacation at a resort in their network, depending on the amount of points owned. Owners buy a certain amount of points corresponding to the type of vacation desired. The larger the unit size and the better the location, the more points that are needed to book that holiday.
Keep in mind that the points program is not co-mingled with the ownership of a Marriott Vacation Club week when it comes to the resale market. The points program is treated as a separate program and, as such, points purchased directly from Marriott can be sold on the resale market, but points cannot be sold resale if they were the result of a points conversion from an owned week. A week converted into Marriott points will be reverted back to the original week by Marriott when sold on the resale market.
The easiest way to remember this is by using an apples-to-apples comparison. If points were originally purchased, points can be sold or bought resale. If a week was purchased, the week can be sold or bought resale.
Marriott Vacation Club Rentals
One of the best advantages of owning a Marriott timeshare is the excellent rental value Marriott products command on the open market. Marriott timeshare rentals are some of the most sought-after timeshare products in the industry, and owners who cannot use their Marriott Vacation Club unit can always turn to the rental market to seek a renter for their unit.
At BuyaTimeshare.com we find that customers sometimes book Marriott rentals before they buy a Marriott timeshare. This allows them to first experience the property and get acquainted with the Marriott brand and style of hospitality before they buy. If you are looking to rent a Marriott timeshare, you've come to the right place.
