Amelia Island Timeshares

Located along the east coast of Florida in the state’s northeast corner, Amelia Island is a popular retreat. Known for the Europeans who settled there, the island was also home to Spanish and British settlers before it became part of the United States. Along with the wonderful beaches, you may also want to visit because of the ample golf courses on the island. The Oak Marsh Course and the Amelia River Golf Club are just a few that are worth your time when you choose an Amelia Island timeshare.

Amelia Island Events

One event that you won't want to miss when visiting your Amelia Island timeshare is the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival. Started in 1964, this festival pays homage to the shrimp boats that catch the little creatures. More than 150,000 people head to the island for the festival every year. Not only will you find a number of delicious shrimp dishes available, but you can also shop for souvenirs. The Amelia Island Film Festival is another popular local event. It often shows some of the films shot in Florida and allows you to check out the work created by local directors. You may want to come back for the Chamber Music Festival or the Amelia Island Jazz Festival as well.

Historic Sites

As Amelia Island is part of Nassau County, you shouldn't be surprised at the sheer number of historic sites on the island. Fernandina Beach is one of the focal points on the island and you can tour the old historic site as well as enjoy the surf and sand. Built in 1885, the Fairbanks House is one of the oldest and most beautiful homes on the island. Some call it the Fairbanks Folly because the original owner built the house in secret for his wife who did not like it.

Outdoor Fun

When you stay in an Amelia Island timeshare, you can view some of the shooting locations for popular films, but don’t miss Fort Clinch State Park - one of the best places to enjoy the sun and sand. It has more than 1,000 acres of space open to the public and features the remains of the old fort. You can also stroll or lounge on the beach and see wild animals such as dolphins. Once you buy an Amelia Island timeshare, you can return to this park to experience everything it has to offer, including swimming and picnicking.

When to Visit

The average temperature on Amelia Island ranges from 53 to 56 degrees Fahrenheit (12 to 13 degrees Celsius) in the winter. During the summer, those temperatures can easily climb to 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius) and reach even higher temperatures. The rainy season begins in June and lasts until September. You'll see the most rain when you visit in August as more than 12 inches of rain falls on average. The best time to visit is often in the early spring right after the winter season. Not only will you see warm temps, but you'll find fewer crowds.
