Yorktown Battlefield

P.O. Box 210 , Yorktown , Virginia 23690 United States

On October 19, 1781, a British army under General Charles Lord Cornwallis was forced to surrender to General Washington's combined American and French army. The Colonial Golf Club

8285 Diascund Rd . , Lanexa , Virginia 23089 United States

The Colonial, above all, is a player's course. Located 10 miles west of Williamsburg, VA, is a superbly conditioned, traditional layout in an unspoiled natural setting. The picturesque course winds through hardwood forests and tidal marshes, framed by native laurel and other indigenous species - and there is not a condo or residence in sight...just delicious solitude. The Colonial hosts one of the most visually breathtaking par 3's in the Williamsburg area, nicknamed The Abyss. It is a forced carry over a native marshland, and a challenge for anyone who plays this hole. For those that don't conquer the hole, there is a "cussin' box" near the green to provide relief. The Colonial offers the ammenities of a private club, including, lessons, camps, video analysis, leagues, club repair, club making, complete practice range facility, 3 hole practice course, course beverage service and a full service restaurant and bar.

Tartan Golf Club

633 St. Andrews Lane , Weens , Virginia 22576 United States

The tradition of the early Scottish golf course architects was to make the golf course fit the land not make the land fit the course. Sir Guy Campbell followed that tradition in all his work. By using the natural lay of the land he created a golf course at the Tartan that is timeless. Tree-lined fairways meander over the rolling hills. No two holes are alike. Par 4's vary not only in length, but also in strategy. Some require a forced carry, others allow a run-up shot to the green. Some have water or bunkers as hazards, and some need nothing more than the varying terrain. Several of the par 5's are reachable in two by the more skilled player, but each of them offers a different risk to overcome. Each of the par 3's is a jewel in its own right. The Tartan was also designed to be a walker's golf course as the game was meant to be played. Unlike many modern courses, there are no half-mile hikes between holes. Walkers are welcome at any time. The Tartan's gently rolling hills will transport you back to the Scottish dunes land. Our dress code includes plus fours and kilts.

Kiskiack Golf Club

8104 Club Dr. , Williamsburg , Virginia 23188 United States

Set along the ridge of a natural bluff, Kiskiack offers a day of golf for players of all levels. As our award winning architect John LaFoy said "after playing Kiskiack, 18 golfers may each have a different favorite hole." Many of the picturesque holes demand accurate shot making from tee to green, while others are more forgiving - with ample landing areas and gentle sloping greens. Golf Digest's "Places to Play" awarded Kiskiack four stars. The front nine lets you relax as the course winds through mature hardwoods and over natural, rolling hills before a challenging uphill finish along one of the two lakes that come into play throughout the round. On the back nine, you are challenged by signature Hole 11. This par-3 requires accuracy to negotiate a green surrounded by water on three sides and well protected by bunkers.
