The Lakes of the North vacation community is a perfect escape-to destination, located within a two-hour drive north of Grand Rapids or south of the resort area of Sault Ste. Marie and Michigan’s spectacular Upper Peninsula. Small plane access is also available at the Gaylord-Lakes of the North Airport, which offers 4,350' asphalt runway and tie downs. This is a year-round, general utility airport located across the street from the Deer Run Golf Course and several popular fly-in restaurants.

Harold Lake at Lakes of the North

Harold Lake is a 40-acre, natural spring-fed lake, located within this recreational community. The property includes a beach house with concession service, restrooms and changing areas, a dock, and a sand beach for swimmers and sunbathing.

This 18-hole, public golf course plays the front nine over scenic fairways with generous greens and then offers a different playing experience over the back nine holes, which were designed by golf course architect William Newcomb. The picturesque back nine meanders alongside the headwaters of the Manistee River.
