Discover The Gauntlet, one of Virginia's finest golf courses in Fredericksburg. Opened in 1995, our par 72, 6,900-yard, P.B. Dye championship layout features lush zoysia fairways, and smooth, consistent bent grass greens. Set around the lake of Curtis Memorial Park in Fredericksburg, The Gauntlet has made its mark, reaching top recognitions such as Golf Digest's "Top 10 New Course to Play in the US" and Washington Golf Monthly's "100 Best Courses to Play in the Mid-Atlantic".
Our facility contains the Museum, which houses our County’s history, beginning with early Native Americans and continuing on through the Civil War. It is also home to a research library that is open to the general public.
The 'original' Somerset opened its first nine holes in 1997, a Jerry Slack design set amongst the rolling and densely forested (in spots) pastoral farm lands of central Virginia (about fifteen minutes west of Fredericksburg off of Rt. 3). The second nine holes completed the track a year later. For those who first tried the course, they found a lot of very enjoyable holes, a few that they wanted to 'blow up' (this is an actual quote from one player), and unfortunately for the folks managing the facility at the time, a less than burning desire to return.
The 180 acre course has been designed by Bill Ward, Jr. - an up and coming designer with six golf courses to his credit - the latest - a Championship Course in Cumberland, Maryland. Ward has put maximum effort into designing 27 holes, each one with a distinct character.
Unparalleled Value for the True Golf Enthusiast - Players of Lee's Hill Golf Club enjoy a caliber of golfing excellence that few communities can match. Our championship golf course has been crafted by Bill Love, one of the most sought-after names in golf course design. With 18 holes draped across lush Virginia forests and natural wetlands, whose subtleties make each shot unique, you'll find endless variety and a rewarding challenge awaiting you on each green.
Green Springs National Historic Landmark District encompasses over 14,000 acres in the piedmont of central Virginia. The homes and farms are a continuum of Virginia rural vernacular architecture, reflective and respectful of their location, preserved in their original context with little alteration. Here the landscape has been enhanced, rather than despoiled, by the presence of civilization.
