Blaine, Washington is located right at the U.S.-Canada border, about 110 miles north of Seattle and 33 miles south of Vancouver, BC. Just south of town is the picturesque hamlet of Birch Bay, and one of the top-quality timeshare resorts in town is WorldMark Blaine.

Vacationing at Birch Bay is popular because the town is the jumping-off point for exploration of the entire region. The Strait of Georgia, Strait of Juan de Fuca, and Puget Sound are an outdoor lover's paradise, and the snowcapped Cascade Range and Olympic Mountains are just a short distance away.

Major Attractions

Birch Bay is near several ferry terminals that take visitors to Victoria, BC and to the San Juan Islands. The latter includes Orcas Island, and a trip to this island isn't complete without a hike to the summit of Mt. Constitution. From the top, one can see Victoria, Bellingham, the peaks of the North Cascades, and the equally impressive peaks of the Olympic Mountains.

Boating tours are also available at WorldMark Blaine. Whale watching is a popular activity, and beachcombing is also a favorite way to spend the day. Clam digging, diving for Dungeness crabs, and salmon fishing are among the long list of outdoor activities.

Great Activities in Any Season

Drive down to Bellingham and then head east to Mt. Baker and its ski resort. Go kayaking on the Skagit River. Enjoy a beachfront bonfire and barbeque.

Explore Gen Echo Gardens, a 7-acre botanical garden located in a natural woodlands setting. The sandy beaches of White Rock, located just over the border in British Columbia, are a major draw for visitors. The Lake Whatcom Railway, located just east of Bellingham, is a restored rail line that takes visitors on a two-part adventure. The first part is a ride on a 100-year old handcar, and the second part is a Northern Pacific train ride along the rest of the lakeshore. Bald eagle nests are clearly visible along the route.
