The Blue Mesa Ranch cabin, camping, and RV resort is located lakeside, on the edge of the Black Canyon National Park. Vacation there, and you’ll enjoy views of Colorado’s spectacular Rockies from almost every direction. This retreat offers an appealing blend of mountains and valleys, with the West Elk Mountains to the north and the San Juan Mountains to the south.
Situated in the area known as the High Desert Country of Western Colorado, the Blue Mesa Reservoir area has warm summers, abundant sunshine, and low rainfall. Although it does snow on this desert land in winter months, the intense sunshine and dry climate cause the snow to dissipate quickly. Rainfall averages are approximately nine inches annually.
This calm, deep blue, manmade lake is the largest body of water that is located entirely within the state borders of Colorado. The reservoir is twenty miles in length and has nearly one hundred miles of shoreline. Two full-service marinas and a restaurant on the lake provide boat rentals and services, fuel, and supplies.
The reservoir is an excellent spot for boating, water skiing, fishing, wind surfing, and winter ice fishing. The surrounding rugged terrain is a great place to hike or enjoy horseback riding or ATVs.
Cabins at Blue Mesa are available in two models, the Rustic Cabins in the trees or the Park Model style. Rustic Cabins offer both one- and two-bedroom plans while all Park Models are two-bedroom layouts. These cottages have kitchens that are equipped with pots, pans, dishes, and utensils, (kitchen linens and bed and bath linens are not provided) living and dining areas, and either one or two bedrooms. There’s even a honeymoon cabin with a romantic private hot tub!
For recreational vehicle, trailer, or tent camping, Blue Mesa Ranch has 267 RV sites. Every spacious site has full hook-ups, with water, sewer, electric, and wi-fi. Most sites also include cable TV hook-ups. Access roads through this RV park and campground are paved, and campsites afford you plenty of space for parking an additional vehicle.
To take the “rough” out of roughing it, this campground includes a self-service laundry, hot showers and restrooms, and ice and propane for sale onsite.
