Designed by John Fought, a Portland native and former PGA Tour pro whose design credits include four Top 100 courses, The South Course is a traditional American layout with mature stands of Oregon trees, naturally rolling terrain and 114 gleaming white sand bunkers waiting to swallow errant shots. Strategy and deception combine with pure aesthetic pleasure on this par 72 track, measuring from 5,189 to 7,172 yards. The South Course offers a test worthy of the most accomplished golfer - both The Fred Meyer Challenge and the JELD-WEN Tradition have been played on this course. Course highlights include the 605-yard, par 5 6th hole and the 473-yard, par 4 17th. The 6th requires players to negotiate no fewer than 16 strategically placed fairway and greenside bunkers. The 17th stands out not only for its beauty, but also for the water feature guarding the hole's left side and the distinctive double green, shared with the 11th and punctuated by a pot bunker separating the two putting surfaces.
