on Tanglewood's private 18 hole championship golf course. Completed in 1973, this challenging course was designed by golf legend Arnold Palmer and renowned architect Ralph Plummer. The 7,000 yard layout features large sand and grass bunkers, lush bermuda fairways, a complete practice facility and the only soyzia grass green in the country. Under the direction of Dr. Milton Engleke, and his staff at Texas A&M University Tanglewood became the first golf course in the United States to install soyzia on its greens. This new environmentally friendly grass uses less chemicals and water. It produces putting surfaces similar to bent with fast speeds and no grain.
