World-renowned golf course designer Pete Dye, often called the "Greatest Modern Day Architect," sketched his early vision for a special sort of golf course in French Lick on a napkin at a local restaurant. His vision has now been etched into the hilltops near West Baden Springs Hotel, and in June 2009 the 18-hole Pete Dye Course at French Lick opened as one of the premier championship Indiana golf courses. Originally constructed in 1917 by world-renowned architect Donald Ross, this legendary golf course has been home to many regional and national tournaments, including the 1924 PGA Championship. The course underwent an incredible transformation in collaboration with the Donald Ross Society. Dedicated golfers might look past a nine-hole golf course, but not when it is a conversion of the original 18-hole Tom Bendelow Valley Links adjacent to the French Lick Springs Hotel. Golfers are certain to take notice of the championship tee length of nearly 3,500 yards! The Valley Links gives golfers of all skill levels and ages a fun and challenging place to play in the hotel backyard.
