My husband, Dr. Bill, has owned this membership for over 40 years. At 90 years of age, he decided he no longer had the energy to keep up the camping activity. However, we have our memories and many pictures. One of the most enjoyable was when my then-10-year old grandson and 7 year old granddaughter came for a two week visit. We selected a campsite closer to the 4-corner stop and just a short walking distance from the Family Pool and Rec Center. We had our patio enclosure at that time, and one large, one small cot, which they decided to use (right outside our bedroom window). Many times since we have brought my disabled daughter and her friend up to SV, but they prefer pitching a tent close by. When we brought the Grandchildren up from John Wayne Airport, after shopping Walmart in Beaumont for the necessary additional toys they selected, the first thing they wanted to do was go swimming. I accompanied them, of course, for three days, but it was so well supplied with capable lifeguards who ran a tight ship, that I let them walk by themselves with appropriate money in pockets for Snack Bar and game room, further developing their independence skill-sets. What a relief for me and, thankfully, no mishaps. There were crafts for McKenna and a game room for Austin as well as playgrounds, hiking and biking. When we camp alone, we prefer a more open campsite area below the Adult Center. Any empty site can be taken for up to 30 days by registering at office with your and the sites' numbers We had lovely trees to shade us, mountains to view, lots of squirrels and birds, and a starry, brilliant sky at night. In recent years, we've had our RV stored at Silent Valley for a nominal sum annually and either $45 to set up and return to storage or $65 to set up and hook up and return when you make reservations a couple days before visiting. A 10-day interlude allows you to use up to 30 more days until the maximum of 120 days per year have been reached.
