    Review:
As a gardener, I was drawn to the beautiful island of Kauai three decades ago, but what I found was so much more spectacular than I had ever imagined. The natural scenery is unbelievably gorgeous with velvety emerald mountain ranges, spectacular waterfalls and a myriad of rainbows along with perfect beaches. I knew immediately that I would be returning to Kauai at least once a year to enjoy the heavenly peace and serenity it provides. Then I found Pahio at Ka'Eo Kai and the stage was set for many, many years of wonderful vacations with my family and friends. The staff at Pahio welcomed us with such gracious, friendly, and joyful demeanor that it would have been impossible for us to go to any other resort to purchase a part of this paradise. So we made Pahio our second home, and have never regretted it.

Pahio is set on a plateau at the beginning of Princeville on the pristine North shore overlooking Hanalei Bay and the views are incredible. The 2000 square foot units are quite enormous by any standard, and are elegantly appointed. Every unit was renovated in the past few years with completion of the project in 2015. The renovation included installation of upscale cabinetry, gorgeous granite, all new appliances, attractive wood grain tile, upgraded showers and bathrooms, and luxurious furniture and carpeting. The open design allows for easy conversation and participation in activities plus they have free Wifi for up to four devices. The kitchen is well equipped; you can wash your clothes in the built in washer and dryer; and the bathrooms have both a shower and tub so everyone gets to bathe in their own favorite surrounding. Then there is the lockout unit which is fabulous. It is essentially a studio apartment that is quite opulent. It can serve as just a second bedroom or as a separate apartment because it has an equally large bathroom, kitchen appliances, electronics and even a separate lanai area.

The casual relaxed atmosphere of the resort really nurtures one's soul, but it also provides lots of activities for both young and old. There is a clubhouse always full of things to do, two pools, a spa and tennis courts. I took my first scuba diving class in one of the large pools there, I even took my first painting class at Pahio taught by an Art professor with considerable talents. Jewelry making, hula lessons, and flower arranging are all part of the activities there, and this is even without leaving the resort itself.

There is a shopping area with in walking distance that has a large grocery store, lots of shops, including an ice cream shop, and many restaurants to choose from. If you've forgotten your nail polish, it's just a hop, skip, and a jump to get it at the market.

For golf fans, you are in for a treat. There are three courses in the area, all beautiful with lush green fairways and incredible views. There is an endless number of activities to do on the island especially on the West side. Hiking, deep-sea fishing, and surfing are within a few miles of the resort. Hanalei Beach is just west of Princeville and it is a must-see beach on the North Shore. The cup-shaped bay is framed with roughly two miles of ivory sands. Two reefs, Puu Poa and Waikoko provide excellent snorkeling opportunities when the seas are calm. Anini Beach Park offers a family friendly stretch of sand less than six miles east of Puu Poa Beach. The beach is three miles long, while the protective reef stretches for two miles just offshore. That same reef tops out at a width of 1,600 feet, providing not only usually calm water conditions but a prime snorkeling venue. This is one of the best snorkeling spots to find colorful reef fish including the humuhumunukunukuapua'a, the Hawaiian state fish. Windsurfers and kite boarders flock to Anini Beach to take advantage of the near constant breeze. There are restrooms, picnic pavilions including barbecue grills, and showers, plus plenty of parking.

One of the most secluded and untouched places on earth, the NaPali Coast has a deserted beach and soaring cliffs as well as an archaeological site with the ruins of the people who lived there for 600 years. A sunset catamaran cruise below the cliffs is a magical experience. The Waimea Canyon State park is also on the West side of the island. It is called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, as its cliffs are a brilliant red color as it was carved over millennia by the Waimea River and extreme rainfall. A helicopter ride over this beautiful land allows you to see the Taro fields and even fly into the Volcano where you might find yourself being rained on.

This Garden Isle is a heavenly paradise and the Pahio resort is the perfect place to enjoy it all. As a new owner, you will delight in every moment you can spend on the island.
