Disney Vacation Club - DVC

The Walt Disney Company threw their hat into the Timeshare ring by opening Disney Vacation Club in 1991. Based on their rich history of innovative creativity, DVC chose to change the way their timeshare operation would work. Disney Vacation Club created their own timeshare program, one based off of vacation points offering greater flexibility to the owners. Traditionally the timeshare market works by consumers purchasing a particular timeshare unit for a specified time period each year. At Disney Vacation Club, the consumer makes a one time purchase of vacation points that can be used towards future vacations, entering into a contract of real estate interest with DVC. Once this initial purchase is made, the consumer is now a member of the Vacation Club. In essence, your locking in today's prices and pre paying for future vacations at any of their timeshare resorts. Disney Vacation Club requires an initial purchase of 160 points, each point carrying a specific dollar value. When you make this purchase, you are purchasing into a "home resort", which is the timeshare that you hold real estate interest. An advantage of having this "home resort" is it allows members to make reservations at that particular timeshare up to 11 months in advance. If a member is looking to make a reservation at a timeshare that is not their "home resort", they can only call in that reservation up to 7 months in advance. A members "homer resort" or timeshare, also determines the annual dues one will pay. These maintenance fees are the costs members pay for the usual services at the timeshare resort (landscaping, housekeeping et…) All DVC contracts have an end date, that date determines the time you relinquish ownership back to Disney. The expiration dates of each contract vary depending on the "home resort". The number of time share points one would need to purchase tends to vary on a few factors; resort, time of year, room type etc. Timeshare owners also have the flexibility of banking their points, buying more points and even borrowing and exchanging their points. Members can own up to 2000 points at one Disney Vacation Club timeshare, or 5000 points across multiple timeshares at Disney. How many points one would need is solely based on the individual's vacation needs. These points go hand in hand with Disney Vacation Club's timeshare flexibility. You're not locked into a single unit during a specific time. Disney Vacation Club timeshare members have what is called a floating timeshare weeks. They can choose the timeshare resort they prefer, the time of the year they would like, as well as the size of the timeshare unit. Currently Disney Vacation Club offers 4 basic room types (which can vary from each timeshare resort)to help meet the accommodations of a families ever changing needs. DVC offers a Studio Unit, which can accommodate up to 4 people. The One Bedroom Vacation Home generally consists of a master suite, living room, kitchen, and your own patio. The kitchen comes fully equipped and there is also a washer and dryer, this timeshare can accommodate up to 4 people. The Two Bedroom Vacation Home is similar in the offerings of the One Bedroom Vacation Home, only it has the two bedrooms and can sleep up to 8 people. The Three Bedroom Grand Villa is considered the cream of the crop for Disney Vacation timeshare offerings. Each two floor unit has 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. They have all the amenities of the other timeshare units and can sleep up to 12 people. Another exciting feature for Disney Vacation Club timeshare members is the flexibility to use their membership on accommodations at the Disneyland Resorts in California, Paris, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. Members are privy to member only Disney publications. Also, DVC is constantly providing a range of incentives for both new and existing members. These incentives are constantly changing and vary from each Disney Vacation Club timeshare resort.
