The Wyndham Beach Street Cottages were a little off the beaten track, but they are a hidden gem. The staff is so welcoming and they make sure that you know everything. How to get to your room, where to park, how to get into the pool, the best restaurants, all the other amenities, everything. They leave nothing out. They also have a fresh cookie for you when you check in at the reservations desk. One thing about this resort is full of is southern beach town charm. The property is lush and a relaxing oasis of magnolia trees and palm trees all mixed in with colorful flowers and the sound of the ocean crashing on the beach across the street.
The attractions are all close together here and perfect if you don’t want to drive everywhere. Right next door is a place called Kenny D’s which has a little bit of everything. I recommend the shrimp po boy which was so good, I got it a few times during our stay. If you want to walk a little bit further down the road another place is the Crab Trap which is a great sit down restaurant. A little bit more formal than Kenny D’s but also – amazing food! The other attractions include water-sports and the private access beach. Sugar sand and clear blue water means that you will spend hours there.
Over all I loved this resort. It was quaint and quiet and full of life. The gardens were well tended and the sweet smell of magnolia greeted you every morning when you opened the doors. We enjoyed coffee on our deck often. The full kitchen was really great and allowed us to stay in a few times so we could spend time with friends and family. They mentioned the rooms were being renovated this year, but they were clean and nice as is. The family room was perfect for a larger group and they had a DVD player so if we had had younger kids they would have been entertained. We spent a few afternoons at the pool as well and really enjoyed that. They have outdoor bathrooms so you don’t have to track water through your unit and they also had an outdoor shower so you could rinse off from the beach or the pool, which was great. We didn’t use the grills they had, but we did enjoy sitting in the gazebo and at the patio tables they had there when we wanted to eat outside rather than inside our unit. The one thing I’d like to mention about this resort is that they do not have indoor facilities. They only have the reservation desk which is the bottom half of a unit and then the laundry room. Other than that it is set up as an outdoor campus which you can walk through. There are no overhangs though and the trees are the only protection you have unless you are going to walk through someone’s patio. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a getaway!
