Alternative Travel Better Than Aircraft? September 2, 2008

The only thing dictating travel nowadays is cost of fuel. Even the increased price of fruit this year can be attributed to the price of gas. This has also triggered the largest jump in airfares in the past 25years. These high fares and slowing economy are causing vacationers to at least investigate alternatives to this costly yet efficient mode of transportation.

Though gas prices have been falling for the past month, they are still encroaching on the $4 mark, with the national average hovering at $3.67per gallon. AAA reports that more than 34million people will travel 50miles or more over Labor Day weekend alone. 83% of these people will get there by car. Companies like Amtrak and discount bus carriers are trying to capitalize on this percentage, offering everything from cheap rates to more leg room.

For traveling the real distances, like intercontinental vacationing, or even from JFK to LAX, the airfare and security lines are an inevitable truth that must be accepted. Trips throughout the country are available through companies like Amtrak, a railway carrier that has thoroughly wrapped itself around the country. The tickets cost far less, but expect the trip to take twice to three times as long as a direct flight. Katrina Romero, Amtrak spokeswoman said “we’re attributing about half of the increase to the price of gas alone and the other half to travelers seeking an alternative to driving or flying …people are fed up with traffic jams and airport security lines.”

Air Transport Association president Jim May says “economic uncertainty and the heavy hit from sky-high energy prices mean that many vacation and business travelers are choosing to stay closer to home.” So why fly to Florida when you can hop on a train or charter a bus? Airlines are still your best bet, if you are traveling from Boston to your suite in Aruba, but if you are simply visiting your aunt in Chicago, maybe a bus or a train would be your best bet.

Unfair Airfare 2008 August 14, 2008

Folks traveling for the summer, or those looking to book their winter getaway, might find availability dwindling and airfares skyrocketing. Families who booked a vacation last year may find the cost of that same trip has almost doubled. As airlines cut flights and add fuel surcharges, it is becoming a challenge just to consider travel. BuyATimeshare.com has worked to thwart the increasing prices of travel—especially for vacationing.

Recently numerous airlines have announced that they will be cutting flights to many popular destinations, this might make for an inconvenient holiday season, rampant with layovers and confusing itineraries. As inventory shrinks and the prices escalate, the reduction in seats to popular destinations like Aruba, Florida, Hawaii, and The Caribbean has built a flight crunch, allowing airlines to charge a premium on popular routes. “Supply and Demand” would dictate that cities with significant cuts are seeing some of the biggest price increases. According to Travelocity, overall airfares have increased an average of 11 percent between November and February.

The tug of war between price and availability may become more of a tractor-pull once September comes around and most popular destinations are unavailable or just too expensive. On September 2, JetBlue will no longer fly between New Burgh, New York or West Palm Beach, Florida. Continental has announced that they will no longer fly to the Floridian cities of Sarasota and Tallahassee as of September 3. Midwest airlines will be eliminating service to Fort Lauderdale and Fort Myers on September 8 and Delta has already cancelled routes between Orlando and cities like Las Vegas, Fort Lauderdale and Little Rock, Arkansas.

As travelers pare spending, leisure travel is often the first to go in a week economy. Michael Brophy, a spokesman for Midwest Airlines wrote in an email “with today’s environment of low fares and high fuel, all airlines are having a difficult time justifying the economics of flying to leisure markets such as some destinations in Florida.”

In response to these drastic cuts, many destinations are offering promotions and discounts to help offset rising airfare. Some resorts are offering discounts and even money back to guests who book multiple nights. At BuyATimeshare.com, there are fully customizable programs like “Timeshare Pulse” that allows the user to specify by price range, city, sale or rental, the exact resorts and right down to the precise week of your stay. You will be notified of all the resort packages that match your request. So shop around the BuyATimeshare.com website, even chat live with one of our professionals to answer any questions you may have along the way.

If your local airline discontinues service to a city you are hoping to visit, and the prices get jacked too high, know that BuyATimeshare.com will find you an affordable vacation property, local or exotic, and will save you enough money to afford to fly wherever you want.

As a result of recent gas prices climbing rapidly each week, it is unclear whether the numbers will plateau or simply rise into oblivion and become a luxury only the posh can afford. As for today the vacation season is underway and a trend is forming among travelers who fear spending too much on their time off. At BuyATimeshare.com we have rentals available that will not only save you money, but will give you access to the luxuries of a premiere timeshare resort.

Many folks are convinced that the good old days of road-trips and vacationing are gone for good. Owners of timeshares in far off places have opted against traveling and will keep close to home this year. Not only are the fuel prices climbing, but the overall cost of travel has spiked drastically. Car rental prices are up 12% and airfare has increased 13% from 2007. The Automobile Association of America (AAA) reported that the average cost for gas raised 39% in 1year, with the price up to $3.98 per gallon, and for the first time in decades Fourth of July travel is expected to drop by over 500,000 Americans less than last year. Even families taking the initiative to rent hybrid cars rather than bringing the family SUV are still deciding to stay within 250 miles of home.

At BuyATimeshare.com we are seeing a vast number of people renting timeshares in their neighboring cities in order to keep the cost down and the luxuries right where they should be. This is a great way to save on travel costs and cut out airfare completely. There are some who still plan to keep their vacation plans, cutting costs on luxuries such as dining out, souvenirs, and entertainment.

AAA reports that 4.5million vacationers will stay closer to home. BuyATimeshare.com offers various properties for rent in all major cities, which is ideal for those looking to stay at a luxury resort. A seven day stay at a rental is available for the mere cost of three days at a common hotel. If given the opportunity to visit your nearest city, enjoying the sights and saving money too—wouldn’t you?

Gas prices have been driven up largely because of a drastic rise in oil prices. The price of oil surged to a new record high, above $144 a barrel, as the government reported a larger-than-expected drop in U.S. supplies and investors worried about tension in the Middle East. A report by the International Energy Agency also indicated that world demand for oil will continue to climb, which is expected to lead to tightened supply and is anticipated to only increase gas prices. So why not save wherever you can this vacation season? Don’t let the oil companies decide if you vacation or not, there are options and BuyATimeshare.com can show you how.

West 57th Street by Hilton Club Makes Timeshare History in NYC May 12, 2008

A celebration marked the final stages of a long development process for an up-and-coming timeshare project in Manhattan, New York. Hilton Hotel Corporation is beginning an historic endeavor in the hospitality industry. West 57th Street by Hilton Club, located in midtown Manhattan amongst the prestigious neighborhood of Seventh Avenue and the Avenue of the Americas, is the first ground-up, purpose-built, shared ownership property ever developed in New York City.

BuyATimeshare.com has the only way to gain access to a property that has an average price of $58,000 per week or over $100,000 per week in a penthouse, including a membership in the world-renowned Hilton Grand Vacation Club. There are hundreds of HGVC owners selling their points on BuyATimehsare.com for thousands of dollars less than Hilton would. This is advantageous to buyers, who eventually want to stay at West 57th Street by Hilton Club, though do not want to spend brand-new resort prices.

The resort is scheduled to open during the second quarter of 2009. On May 6th 2008 celebrating the now 28-story foundation was a ceremony and the final bucket of concrete hoisted and poured, bringing this unique superstructure one step closer to becoming a reality. The construction and project teams were recognized by Hilton Grand Vacations President Mark Wang and the Chief Operating Officer of Tishman Construction Corporation, Jay Badame.

With a sleek contemporary interior design by Alexandra Champalimaud & Associates, West 57th Street by Hilton Club is to be a tremendous tower designed by the Architects HLW International and built by Tishman. The distinct setting in NYC is complemented by world-class amenities. 161 luxurious studio, one-bedroom, and penthouse suites were designed with serenity and space in mind. Adorned with stunning floor-to-ceiling windows, high-end furnishings, and the fine quality has been put into every facet of the resort.

In an edition of Grand Times last year, Hilton Grand Vacation Club stated that future HGVC developments built with special amenities, location, or size would have a higher points structure. Grand Waikikiian and King’s Land villas has an extraordinary pool complex and owner’s lounge, and West 57th has an esteemed location, thus mitigating the heightened points cost of these resorts. One way to limit demand is price. Many Hilton Club members agree that special properties deserve better amenities and the cost should be higher. This higher points structure is needed to limit the number of people who would buy a cheaper resort to trade into West 57th Street.

Hilton Club in the New York Hilton on 53rd and 6th Avenue will still have two floors of timeshare and both 53rd and West 57th Street are within walking distance to Central Park, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Museum of Modern Art, Radio City Music Hall, and the refined shopping along Fifth Avenue.
