Florida Attorney General Files Lawsuit Against Deceptive Resale Practices January 26, 2010

Posted by Bryan Connelly in : ARDA, General, News & Events, Timeshare Resale, Timeshare Resource, Travel, Uncategorized , 1 comment so far

As BuyATimeshare.com strives to keep our readers informed about the lasted news regarding the timeshare industry, it is important to remind timeshare owners to beware of resale companies claiming to have a buyer for your property already lined-up.

While every timeshare resale firm has to operate by a strict code of ethics, many businesses choose to stray from these standards in order to get your money. In a shocking report Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum has filed a lawsuit against the Palm Beach County timeshare resale company American Marketing Group LLC for allegedly claiming they had already had a buyer waiting.

Consumers were told that their vacation property would be sold within 120 days. If the timeshare was not sold within that 120 day period the upfront fee, consumers claim, would be refunded. When it came time to redeem their refund, customers of American Marketing Group LLC were presented with a contract which contained language which contradicted the agreed upon terms and conditions of their services.

Many customers complained about the company’s failure to provide the services they were promised and when these clients called the company, they were often unable reach anyone at all. BuyATimeshare.com is alerting anyone who has been confronted by companies claiming to have a buyer for a property to be careful. How can they sell something that is not yet in their inventory? Guaranteeing a specific time of sale like 120 days is another tactic that American Marketing Group has allegedly been using to lure owners into listing their timeshares even though the company does little or nothing to promote the client’s property.

McCollum’s lawsuit seeks a permanent injunction to prohibit American Marketing from engaging in any timeshare resale business in the state of Florida or out of the state involving Florida businesses and residents. The Lawsuit also requests full restitution on behalf of all victims as well as civil penalties and reimbursement or fees and costs related to the investigation. The investigations into American Marketing began in November after numerous consumer complaints were received.

Though many companies will operate the same way, BuyATimeshare.com continuously works to make sure that the benefits of the timeshare resale industry are available to everyone, without deception or the false promises. BuyATimeshare.com has been the most trustworthy and highest ranked company of its kind for 10 years. Maintaining the legitimacy of the resale market through powerful marketing and worldwide exposure, we use the tools necessary to get timeshare properties sold.

Call us today at 800-882-0296 or 800-640-6886 for inexpensive timeshares, competitive advertising costs and a knowledgeable staff who will guide you through the entire process.

Wes Kogelman and BuyATimeshare.com Employees Come Together to Raise Money for Rosie January 20, 2010

As you may know, cancer can come at any time to anyone. You’ve heard the story of someone going for their annual exam and finding out they only have a specific amount of time left on this earth! As frightening as these stories are they really don’t settle in our minds until it happens to someone close. In August my good friend and employee Chris Turcotte AKA “Allen” found out that his step mother Rosie was diagnosed with terminal cancer during a routine visit to the Doctor.

During this trying time he has dedicated his paychecks and time to raising money for her treatment. Many of us are involved in the community throughout the year and we know it is appreciated by non-profits that we help. But it’s nice to give back to someone close to us, someone that we know, someone that we can see our helping hands really are doing good.

Rosie Turcotte is a 44 yr old Mother of three as well as a Step Mother of two. She is happily married and is looking forward to her 17th anniversary. While her battle continues here at home, her youngest son (19) is serving his second tour in Iraq. Rosie’s accomplishments do not go unnoticed. She was twice rated the top female bowler in her league. The manager of popular downtown ice-cream retreat, Rosie enjoys being a passenger on her husband’s motorcycle. Her second chance is validation that miracles do exist and should be an inspiration to all of us.

With live music, raffle tickets and a lot of good people, the “Raising For Benefit” was a complete success. Held at the Sky Lounge in Nashua on Amherst Street, all proceeds went to raise funds for Rosie Turcotte and her fight against lung cancer.

Raffles included collectibles and gift certificates from local business. Win a pair of Monarch tickets and airline tickets to anywhere Southwest files donated by BuyaTimeshare.com, gift certificates for some great food at The Common Man, Margaritas, Louis’s and Frederick’s Pastries. Hair We Are is raffling off a spa-package, 3 months of free storage in a 5′x15′ unit, courtesy of Granite Clover Self Storage and some great Miller Lite, Red Sox, and Budweiser memorabilia was raffled off!

Thank you for your support.

Wes Kogelman and BuyATimeshare.com create a coalition with the Milford Rotary Club & Pure Water of the World to Make a Big Different in Third World Country January 19, 2010

Posted by Wes Kogelman in : News & Events , add a comment

At BuyATimeshare.com we believe it is important to give back to the community whether it is local or worldwide. Wes Kogelman owner of BuyATimeshare.com joined the Milford Rotary 6 months ago to do just that, give back.

A group of 33 Rotarians, consisting of business owners, doctors and engineers started the trip from Boston International airport at 3:00 am to assist the general population of Danli, Honduras. The Rotarians first flew to Miami International airport, then took a connecting flight to Tegucigalpa, Honduras. As they flew into Tegucigalpa they had to avoid mountains, trees, and houses because of the location of the local airport. The group found out that this airport has the shortest international runway that jets can use to safely land in the world. When the group arrived, they took a 1 hour and 45 minute trip to Danli where they stayed at Hotel Granda.

Saturday the group assigned themselves to specific teams, including construction, medical, clean water, and pharmacy. Ed Smith of College Bound Movers and Wes Kogelman were assigned to the construction and clean water teams. Construction consisted of building a hospital and a classroom all in one building. The shell of the building was intact, but it lacked running water, electricity, tables for patients and landscaping. The main goal was to get the building painted and tiled, to install electricity, and to install working lavatories.

Wes Kogelman stated, “The one thing that amazes me is the simple fact that these people do not have clean water or food but are very hospitable toward our group, especially the children.”

At the construction site, the children were trying to help any way they could. They worked extra hard in hopes we would give them money that would help make their lives a little easier. One of the children who stood out among the rest was named Franklin who helped the construction crew all week. By noon the group was taking a break from the intense heat. As they sat down, an ice cream vendor pulled up and Wes decided to buy ice cream cones for the 50 local kids that were helping us. It cost just $30.00 USD, but the huge smile on the children’s faces was priceless.

On Sunday, Wes and Ed assisted the clean water team, which consisted of providing clean water filters to local residents that currently drink directly from the contaminated streams and rivers. The clean water team provided 180lb filters to local villages so they could purify their own water. These filters are made of concrete and weigh 180lbs and if they are handled incorrectly they break. The people of Honduras do not understand their children are dying by the thousands because they are drinking dirty water.

The delivery consisted of bringing 4 filters a quarter of mile up a mountain with a dolly. The terrain consisted of big rocks on the side of a mountain. As Wes and Ed were struggling up this mountain the locals were laughing at them. By the end of the first day, only 5 filters were delivered. On Monday, a gurney was built that made the job a lot easier. On the second day with the help of the new tool they delivered about 19 more up the mountain. Definitely an improvement, but the locals were still laughing. By Tuesday with help from a local named Attoro, the locals were employed to help carry the remaining filters. By employing the locals the rotary club helped a 100 people live a better life, by not only supporting their local economy, but also by providing them the tools to drink clean water.

Edward Smith stated, “The locals make us look weak! Since they walk the terrain every day, they know exactly where to go.”

With the help of the locals they accomplished their goal and delivered all the filters. This means that lives have been saved, which is Great!!

Kogelman stated, “All in all, it was an eye opening experience; I do believe we helped these people drastically.”

Timeshare Resale Firm BuyA Timeshare.com and Wes Kogelman throw the Summer Bash to Support the Boys and Girls Club of Souhegan Valey January 18, 2010

After a fantastic night of live music and great food, the Summer Bash charity event proved to be a success once again. Raising over $4000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Souhegan Valley, local New Hampshire businesses like BuyATimeshare.com came together to bring a night of celebration to the Sky Lounge in Nashua.

Wes Kogelman explains, “last year we were able to get a lot of people together and raise a lot of money for the Boys & Girls Club. We had a lot of fun this year and hope to raise just as much next year.”

Thousands of raffle tickets were sold and some people left the Summer Bash with some awesome prizes. Among the prizes auctioned off, an autographed shadow box with two Red Sox tickets was won by John Sarofeen for $800. Justine Mollomo of BuyATimeshare.com sold nearly $1500 in raffle tickets.

A special thanks to BuyATimeshare.com’s own Mary Pat Burns for selling so many tickets at the door, and to Jocelyn Lockwood and Liz Jones for ticket sales and help with the auction and raffle drawing.

All of us at BuyATimeshare.com are happy to see the huge attendance of people that came to support the cause. Kogleman assures the funds are going to the children of Hillsboro County. “100 percent of the money raised will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Souhegan Valley and will go toward helping them create and maintain after school programs and opportunities for kids who would otherwise be without.”
