Going Green The New Catch Phrase But What Does It Really Mean May 29, 2009
Posted by John Copain in : Travel, Wyndham Timeshares , add a commentExamining Green Projects and Eco-Tourism from Another Perspective
Everywhere you go these days you hear about this green movement or this eco friendly program, which is great because these things need to happen to ensure the comfort and health of our future generations. But sometimes when a phrase is tossed around a lot the meaning gets lost. This happens a lot in leisure service industries and as an organization that cares greatly for the planet and the preservation of the environment we thought it might be a good idea to point out some successful green projects and movements in the timeshare industry.
There have been some small steps in the right direction made by some of the biggest timeshare developer names in the industry such as Wyndham Hotels and Resorts who was applauded for their implementation of eco-friendly uniforms for their employees. The uniforms are made from recycled plastic that is woven into a fine fiber material, keeping plastics out of landfills. The uniforms also do not need to be cleaned with conventional chemicals that can produce pollutant byproducts.
However, the scope of eco-friendly programs can go much deeper. For example the Florida Green Lodging Program is an organization that “acknowledges and promotes lodging facilities that demonstrate water and energy conservation, waste minimization, recycling, indoor air quality, environmentally preferable purchasing, program sustainability, and pollution prevention.” Such timeshare resorts as The Inn at Wildwood and The Sutherland Crossing Resort are just two of hundreds of establishments whose applications have been accepted into the program. The Florida Green Lodging Program was established by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in 2004.
And yet being eco-friendly goes even further. Some timeshare developers are even careful about where they build their timeshare resorts. This is perhaps the most important, but also the most overlooked component of the hospitality industries green movement efforts. To build a resort there has to be land to accommodate the property. A lot of times the land that is used is the same dwindling habitat that many endangered species and plant life rely on. This is currently a big struggle in parts of Mexico and Central America. Prospective timeshare owners that are interested in vacation ownership, but want to remain eco-friendly should consider this when looking for timeshare property to purchase.
Eco-tourism is another catch phrase that gets used often, but sometimes misunderstood. It is a common misconception that eco-tourism refers to activities like jungle zip-lining and white river rafting. Eco-tourism in fact refers to environmentally friendly vacationing. Considering things like public or mass transportation instead of private shuttles helps to lessen the amount of pollution put into the atmosphere – this would be an example of eco-tourism. If you are a lover of water activities than you could seek out a sailing trip instead of a voyage on a motorized vessel. This helps to lessen water pollution. As more and more vacationers start to consider the environment during their travels the preservation of the environment more and more comes to fruition. Considering the future of the planet is important in every industry and to every individual – especially if you are looking into a lifetime deeded membership or long-term RTU! Travel safe, friends! And remember the Earth is your friend too.
Bottom Dollar Sellers On Ebay and Craigslist May 29, 2009
Posted by kwash2442 in : General, News & Events, Timeshare Resale, Timeshare Resource, Travel , add a commentFor those timeshare owners looking to sell their timeshares for a decent return, understand that your fellow owners who post timeshares for sale on Ebay and Crigslist are doing you a disservice. The many owners who are adamant about not paying an ad fee and list their timeshares for sale on these sites, end up receiving 40% less on average than what they could retrieve from a reputable timeshare resale company like buyatimeshare.com. If this continues, these owners that are doing this are going to continually drive the market down. Ask any Wyndham owner who bought their 154,000 points for $20,000 and now they are only worth $1500 on the resale market. If you’re looking to sell your timeshare, do yourself a favor and do the research on a resale company and don’t do yourself and other owners a disservice.

Wallys expands Timeshare Resort May 29, 2009
Posted by ltugs in : Timeshare Resource , add a commentDavid Wally’s Hot Springs Resort & Spa in Genoa, Nevada is expanding says TimeSharing Today. The plans are to add twelve more units on the east side and 216 more units on the west side of the Foothills. There was also some concern about the safety of the road between the east and west properties. The proposal of the addition of an underground tunnel beneath Foothill Road seems to be a solution. The road will be big enough to drive a golf cart through.
Does My Timeshare Have To Be Paid In Full Before I Can Sell May 29, 2009
Posted by Christopher Williams in : Timeshare Resource , add a commentThis is a common misconception for many timeshare owners. The truth is that timeshare loans are much like auto loans. The Purchaser must first refinance the timeshare and the loan owed by the existing owner will be paid from the New Owner’s Financing or if they are paying in cash and paying the full amount. Selling your timeshare within the first yoer of ownership is the best way to ensure you get back as much money as possible from your initial investment.Â
Don’t be affraid to sell just because you still owe!

I have been honored to gain a customer today whom came to me with 3 timeshares at Diamond Resort at Point at Poipu ad#49737, 49739 and 49741. I write about her today not so much about her timeshares but about what she does. Christie is the founder of a non-profit agency “Welcome Home Foster Family” Agency. This is a thankless job. She had worked for another agency and the children fell by the waist side and they would lose track of those children. Christie didn’t like how things were set up so she started her own non-profit to help those unfortunate children that need to go into foster homes for one reason or another. She sets it up so no child gets lost in the paperwork. It is a 24 hour job. She puts the children before anything else. She has poured her heart, money and soul into this non-profit to be able to give a home for the children. YOU CAN MAKE DONATIONS OR INQUIRIES TO welcomehomeffa@hotmail.com and their non-profit license #347003987.
Thank you for ppl with hearts like Christie.

Raising for Rosie Update May 28, 2009
Posted by aturcotte in : Charity , add a commentI’de like to thank everybody who contributed to the Raising For Rosie Fundraiser in December 2008. It’s times like these that we appreciate our friends, family, and community more then ever. Rosie underwent surgery to remove the cancerous tumors in her Lungs and Chest Cavity. Though the odds were against her and the risks were almost to much to bare, the surgery was a success. After a week of rehabilitation she returned home to begin her recovery process during the last weeks of 2008. In the past five months Rosie completed her remaining five Chemo Therapy treatments. She continues her daily Radiation treatment to reduce any remaining cancerous cells in her blood stream. Each day her natural glow is more apparent and her once typical routines are now becoming a part of her life again. She was extremely excited to par take in the walk for Cancer held in Lowell on May 16Th. Though I backed out due to the torrential down pours, she completed the 3 mile course in the rain within 2 hours! Recently, they hopped on their bike and took a spin to my house here in NH. It was her first time on the motorcycle since she was diagnosed. She was very excited to finally be able to endure the position and common obstacles of riding on the back of a motorcycle. On May 1rst she finally penciled herself into the schedule of managing a popular Ice cream retreat in downtown Lowell. She works 3 days a week part time. What an achievement! She was diagnosed in August of 2008 and underwent surgery, rehabilitation, and recovery only to return back to work within 10 months! My youngest brother Ryan has returned home from Iraq to visit with her for two weeks, also her oldest son Paul and his girlfriend are expecting their first child and her second grandchild. Each day her steps to recovery become larger. Her once bright and exciting lifestyle is beginning to burn through the darkened clouds of disease and pain. We appreciate everything that you’ve all contributed to her recovery.

Consumers have not completely stopped spending, but we are all a lot more attentive to where our money goes. For ten years people have been renting their timeshares from BuyATimeshare.com. Recent economic turbulence has triggered over 40,000 timeshare owners to rent their properties, often paying the annual maintenance fees included with every resort.
This makes thousands of the most elegant suites on earth available for prices that are often less than a week at a standard hotel in any popular vacation destination. And while the credit market has yet to solidify, the amount of renters at BuyATimeshare.com has increased nearly 200% over May of 2008.

Resort Developers Fight Suffering Financial Market Sign of Good Things to Come May 22, 2009
Posted by John Copain in : Marriott Timeshares, News & Events, Timeshare Resale, Timeshare Resource , add a commentTimeshare Companies Prevail Despite Languishing Financial Economy
The United States’ economic recession and the subsequent global credit market decline has affected nearly every commercial business and every industry on every level. Finding a light within this dim economic time is not easy, especially for business owners – and in the timeshare industry, resort developers. But news from the timeshare financing sector of a couple major developers is just that, a bit of optimism amidst the unrelenting negative talk of recessions and depressions.
The collapse of several American and international banks have thrown a wrench into the real estate markets and lending institutions. Interest rates have gone up and property values have gone down. Amazingly, this did not immediately affect the timeshare industry. It wasn’t until the fall and winter of 2008 that the timeshare financing, property loan, and timeshare mortgage systems of major timeshare resort developers began to slip. All of a sudden timeshare companies weren’t making money from selling their product because there was no way to monetize consumer debt – in other words selling timeshare units based on money lending was no longer profitable. This meant that timeshare companies were looking for cash transactions, which is unrealistic for most prospective timeshare owners.
The good news arrived last month when it became evident that both Starwood and Marriott were going to continue to offer financing for new timeshares, which is a lot harder for resort developers to do than it is for timeshare resale companies to do because the units are so much more expensive – this is one of the reasons BuyATimeshare has managed to evade the financial market crash.
For giant corporations there is a higher risk because this type of property financing relies on mortgage-backed securities this is a sign that the left-for-dead securities market is starting to move again. That is quite a bit more positive than most economic news you’ve heard today, isn’t it? No one has predicted a full recovery overnight, but if this is a sign of things to come than the ailing property and financial markets may finally begin to recover.
It’s going to be a long road to recovery for the US economy, but it has to start somewhere. If Plato was right then once we’ve seen the light we will be reluctant to return. Let’s hope he was talking about vacation ownership!
