With a strategic alliance with the Family of Orange Lake Resorts in Florida, InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) continues its global expansion. IHG, trying their luck at the billion-dollar timeshare industry, has created Holiday Inn Club Vacations. This will be yet another family of resorts to be added to the BuyATimeshare.com register. At BuyATimeshare.com, a marriage like this will only add to our marketing extensive inventory of world renowned brands—for thousands of dollars less than the developer.

The Orange Lake’s flagship Resort & Country Club in Orlando, Florida will be the first resort converted. It is scheduled to be ready for December of 2008 under the Holiday Inn Club Vacations brand. This impressive property offers 2,412 villas on a beautifully appointed 1,400-acre site next to Walt Disney World. Soon Holiday Inn Club Vacations will convert the remaining Orange Lake Resorts in Ascutney, Vermont; Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; and Panama City, Florida. Orange Lake Resorts will still be owned and operated by the Wilson family, founders of the Holiday Inn brand.

IHG has made other aggressive moves in recent weeks, including endeavors in Costa Rica, Vietnam, India, Ecuador, and will soon take over two hotels in Wuhan, China. While other companies are waiting for a more amiable economic environment to make a move, IHG is bounding into the timeshare market. This latest venture coincides with the $1billion relaunch and rebranding of 3,200 IHG’s Holiday Inn Hotels, with completions scheduled for end of 2010.

Within a few years, you can expect to see Holiday Inn Club Vacations for sale by owner on the resale market. BuyATimeshare.com offers numerous Orange Lake Resorts packages, and we are looking forward to advertising IHG resorts from all over the world—with no commission, no broker fees, and no sales pressure.

Disney and Bay Lake Tower Revealed September 19, 2008

“Step off the monorail and into the modern look and feel of this lakeside hotel, amidst a backdrop of Magic Kingdom® Park”—Walt Disney World

Disney has been especially secretive about the 15-story, $110million tower being built outside of the Contemporary Resort. Finally, their plans have been made public on Tuesday, when the company unveiled their project, Bay Lake Tower. This brand new building is said to be dedicated to Disney Vacation Club, the Celebration-based timeshare service.

Earlier this month Disney filed the paperwork to create a “Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Condominium Association,” presumably to manage the resort once it is sold off to individual owners. Disney has at last announced publicly its plans for the partially-built Contemporary addition, which now stands 14 stories and will be linked to the main A-frame building by a pedestrian bridge.

Disney had filed paperwork with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations, indicating that the “Bay Lake” namesake will be replacing the original “Kingdom Tower” they had earlier proposed. The company has also revealed plans to sell timeshares at the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, which is currently being rebuilt.

The “Kingdom Tower” was criticized by some Disney enthusiasts when the name first surfaced. Some internet forums said it evoked religious overtones, noting that “Kingdom Hall” is a term for a place where Jehovah’s Witnesses worship. Tim Krasniewski, publishers of DVCNews.com, a website devoted to Disney Vacation Club, said he was personally fond of “Kingdom Tower,” which most people assumed referred to the Magic Kingdom theme park that sits next door to the Contemporary. But he said he likes “Bay Lake Tower”—which refers to one of the lakes that the Contemporary and its addition overlook. “I think it’s a wonderful name… I think everybody is familiar with Bay Lake, with the fact that Bay Lake is right there. It has a Disney feel to it.”

There are various Disney packages available at BuyATimeshare.com. Disney’s Saratoga Springs, Board Walk Villas, Old Key West Resort, Vero Beach, and the list goes on. Search our extensive inventory of Disney Resorts, even if you just want to visit Florida, and find the vacation property of your dreams. Spend thousands less than what the developer would sell them for, enjoying the freedom of buying your timeshare on the resale market.

Hurricane Ike Messes With Texas: Part 2 September 17, 2008

Vacationers have had a tough week due to the relentless hurricane Ike. The entire United States may be feeling the affect at the pump however. With 25% of the country’s fuel production at a stand still, gasoline prices seem to be the only thing rising in the aftermath. Hurricane Ike, with its abusive run up the Texas coast, left people stranded, properties destroyed, and many companies struggling to stay afloat.

In preparation for the imminent hurricane, 15 offshore platforms and coastal refineries were shut down and evacuated, including the Exxon Mobil Corp refineries in Baytown and Beaumont. Another in Louisiana remains shut down in the wake of the recent Hurricane Gustav two weeks ago. Together these refineries make up 25% of the U.S. fuel production, and as Ike slammed the coast it severely damaged the Houston energy hub and all crude production in the Gulf of Mexico. This was the biggest hit to the U.S. oil sector since hurricane Katrina and Rita in 2005. Oil companies aid they were flying workers back offshore to check for damage and restart operations.

In response to the coastal devastation, gasoline prices at the pump are rising steadily. Richard Newell, a Gendell associate professor of energy and environmental economics at the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University explains that “although hurricanes have a short-term effect on gas prices, the long-term trend depends on the world price of crude oil.” Newell explains “Although gasoline prices will likely average above $3.50 per gallon through 2009, they should eventually come back down to the $2.30-$2.50 range within a few years.”

It has been a tough week for vacationers and service providers alike. U.S. oil production is nearly at a standstill, and gasoline prices are the only thing rising in the aftermath. Hurricane Ike, with its abusive run up the Texas coast, left people stranded, properties destroyed, and many companies struggling to stay afloat.

Galveston, Texas, was hit the hardest by hurricane Ike, an island community that has always been a popular vacation spot for tourists and timeshare owners at Silverleaf’s Seaside resort. In response to local and state orders the resort’s guests and personnel were evacuated on Thursday, September 11, when news of the impending storm was reported. Sharon Brayfield, President of Silverleaf Resorts, said, “We are very proud of our staff at Seaside Resorts for their brave efforts in insuring that all guests were evacuated before this devastating storm struck our coast. While we prepared our Seaside Resort for the hurricane, our primary concern was always for the safety of our employees and guests.”

As of today, the Silverleaf Company has not been able to return to the Seaside Resort to assess the damage. Based upon the preliminary reports of damage in the Galveston area, when the Seaside Resort will reopen is uncertain. Local authorities in the affected areas have not yet projected when full access to the island will be granted to residents and business owners. Silverleaf’s Piney Shores Resort, north of Houston, sustained minimal damage from the hurricane.

Port facilities at Galveston were so badly damaged that Carnival cruises had to divert two ships to New Orleans and cancel more than two upcoming cruises. Patrons will receive refunds, Carnival said, in about three weeks. The damage to cruise passengers’ vehicles left parked at the port terminal is in doubt. Carnival’s website said “we do not currently have a lot of information about the status of the ship channel, cruise terminal or the port access infrastructure. Local communication has been very challenging, and there are restrictions against incoming traffic into the Galveston area” They confess that there is tremendous uncertainty about when the port will be available.

BuyATimeshare.com, the leading name in Timeshare resales, is steadily watching all factors that may influence your travel. We are examining the ramification of Silverleaf’s Seaside Resort, as well as the affect on fuel in general. Folks have not seemed to reduce travel significantly, and though Silverleaf’s Seaside Resort may be in peril, the rest of their extensive portfolio of vacation properties are still in full swing.

BuyATimeshare.com Expands Office to Meet Demand September 13, 2008

After years of exceptional growth, BuyATimeshare.com is expanding their business with a long-awaited move to a more spacious location. In order to accommodate the constant buyer and renter activity a much larger office-space is often necessary. Within a month the combined timeshare sales totaled over $250,000.00 and over $6.4million in confirmed offers. The office in Tampa, Florida, where Vacation Property Resales began, is in the midst of the timesharing phenomenon, and as the years pass the demand has been increasing exponentially.

For the past decade BuyATimeshare.com has gained strength, becoming the leading name in timeshare resales. There has been over $45,742,144.00 in confirmed offers. These bids are from buyers who have been contacted by a Buyer Specialist and have confirmed that the bid is legitimate and serious about making the purchase. While other companies will show all of their offers, we feel it is not an offer unless it has been confirmed. Initially the Tampa office was sufficient enough to keep up with the buyers and renters and people looking to sell their timeshares. It did not take long however, in the heart of Florida, to fill the modest space with a successful crew. A second building in Merrimack, New Hampshire was adopted soon after to handle the ever-growing demand for timeshares on the resale market—especially rentals.

These two dynamic offices have been so successful that within the first few years. Merrimack quickly outgrew their tiny suite and made a transition from 1800 square feet to its current office of 2400 square feet—showing immediate results. Each quarter BuyATimeshare.com has been making record sales, with each month surpassing the last! With more and more buyer activity, the humble Tampa office was no longer adequate for a company that has been seeing such consistent growth.

Recently Tampa transferred to their newest location—with 3600 square feet of area. Given the sufficient space, Tampa will be much more comfortable, efficient, and effective. More and more people across the globe are desperate to sell their timeshares, and everyone else is looking for great bargains on vacations and travel. With our extensive inventory, and upgraded buying capacity, we should continue to see BuyATimeshare.com continue to grow significantly.

Wes Kogelman, President of BuyATimeshare.com explains “In New Hampshire our Buyer Specialists Department has been doing a great job processing the immense amount of offers and rentals. We expect that significantly more space to accommodate the buyers in Tampa will help disperse the weight.” Plans for the near future are to triple the Tampa office Buyer Specialists. BuyATimeshare.com is the first to establish a department totally dedicated to answering questions and facilitating the entire buying and renting process. By providing a more comfortable work environment, and more capacity, each office has been more able to handle the huge influx of offers, sales and rentals that come in each week.

In an effort to stay at the top of the industry and provide the best service possible, BuyATimeshare.com is making sure we can efficiently handle the demand for the advertising and the sales of vacation property on the resale market!

Lately brokers have been stepping up to the resale industry by shopping the BuyATimeshare.com website. For the past two months brokers have increased the use of our extensive inventory and are buying properties by the throng. Often they have numerous clients and have exhausted their own supply. BuyATimeshare.com, a leader in the timeshare resale industry, comes to the rescue. This relationship gives our clients the superior advertising they need, and coupled with brokers’ buying power; we have been making record sales every month for close to a year.

Many brokers and timeshare skeptics claim that timeshare resales are too complex for advertising to successfully work—but we really help each other. At Buyatimeshare.com we make sure your timeshare is seen by millions of potential buyers worldwide, when a broker makes a bid, we negotiate to get you the most, make sure your timeshare becomes a sold listing. In the past two months we can attribute over $178,640.00 worth of Marriott sales and over $213,000.00 worth of WorldMark sales by brokers alone.

Not only do we offer a listing in multiple domains, but we are the only company in the industry to have developed a Buyer Specialists department. These dedicated professionals are available to answer questions and guide buyers through the process. We have also employed a LiveChat option, for folks to discuss any questions or concerns they have along the way.

With the most extensive inventory of vacation properties in the industry, we can work with the broker so you don’t have to. BuyATimeshare.com allows you the chance to sell your valuable timeshare for what you want, instead of the lowest bid a broker will offer. There is commission to consider as well—with a broker charging upwards of 10% of the original cost. So, if you sell a $20,000.00 timeshare, you are liable to be charged $2,000.00. An advertising fee is nominal compared to the percentage brokers take. BuyATimeshare.com deals with these professionals anyway—so would you trade an upfront fee for a hefty commission, or would you rather keep the equity for yourself?

Alternative Travel Better Than Aircraft? September 2, 2008

Posted by Bryan Connelly in : ARDA, General, JetShare, News & Events, Timeshare Rental, Timeshare Resale, Timeshare Resource, Travel, Uncategorized , add a comment

The only thing dictating travel nowadays is cost of fuel. Even the increased price of fruit this year can be attributed to the price of gas. This has also triggered the largest jump in airfares in the past 25years. These high fares and slowing economy are causing vacationers to at least investigate alternatives to this costly yet efficient mode of transportation.

Though gas prices have been falling for the past month, they are still encroaching on the $4 mark, with the national average hovering at $3.67per gallon. AAA reports that more than 34million people will travel 50miles or more over Labor Day weekend alone. 83% of these people will get there by car. Companies like Amtrak and discount bus carriers are trying to capitalize on this percentage, offering everything from cheap rates to more leg room.

For traveling the real distances, like intercontinental vacationing, or even from JFK to LAX, the airfare and security lines are an inevitable truth that must be accepted. Trips throughout the country are available through companies like Amtrak, a railway carrier that has thoroughly wrapped itself around the country. The tickets cost far less, but expect the trip to take twice to three times as long as a direct flight. Katrina Romero, Amtrak spokeswoman said “we’re attributing about half of the increase to the price of gas alone and the other half to travelers seeking an alternative to driving or flying …people are fed up with traffic jams and airport security lines.”

Air Transport Association president Jim May says “economic uncertainty and the heavy hit from sky-high energy prices mean that many vacation and business travelers are choosing to stay closer to home.” So why fly to Florida when you can hop on a train or charter a bus? Airlines are still your best bet, if you are traveling from Boston to your suite in Aruba, but if you are simply visiting your aunt in Chicago, maybe a bus or a train would be your best bet.
