Amistad National Recreation Area

The lake provides year-round, water-based recreation opportunities, including boating, fishing, swimming, scuba diving and water-skiing, as well as other recreational opportunities for picnicking, camping and hunting. The area is rich in archeology and rock art, and contains a wide variety of plant and animal life. For highly experienced scuba divers, there is a system of deep underwater caves that can be accessed. The dive includes exotic gas mixes, pre-placement of gas cylinders, and extensive decompression times at depth. These caves are considered extremely hazardous and should not be attempted by anyone without extensive training and preparation.

The best thing about Bear Creek is that it opened-and as a result ushered in a new era of golf in Houston. Bear Creek was the first daily fee course in the area that was not run by a municipality. Since the original course opened 25 years ago, two more courses have been added. The best of the courses at Bear Creek is the Master's Course, which has long been regarded as one of the finest public facilities in the country. In fact, "Golf Digest" rated it as one of the top 50 courses in the country. The course is mostly straight and long with narrow fairways. Highlights include No. 6, a 557-yard par 5, and the par 4 ninth: there are two water hazards, and the green is guarded by multiple sand traps.

The course rating is 70.6 and it has a slope rating of 114. Brock Park golf course opened in 1952. Vincent Glowacki manages the course as the General Manager.

Canyon Lake Golf Club

The 18-hole "Canyon Lake" course at the Canyon Lake Golf Club facility in Canyon Lake, Texas features 6,168 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 . The course rating is 71.0 and it has a slope rating of 126. Canyon Lake golf course opened in 1982. Scott Donovan manages the course as the General Manager/ Professional.

Cypress Lakes Golf Club

Our entire staff welcomes you! The course was designed to maintain playability in all weather conditions, especially during wet climatic conditions. While most courses are cart paths only, Cypress Lakes Golf Club normally can maintain a 90 degree cart rule. Collared shirts and proper golf attire are required. (No denim/blue jean shorts/pants please.) Soft spikes only. Average playing time (18 holes): 3 1/2 hours to 4 1/2 hours. The course is open year-round. Fully stocked beverage/snack carts operate 6 days a week. The pro shop is fully stocked with the latest clubs and accessories at discount prices, not your normal retail prices.

Green Meadows Golf Club

Green Meadows has two complete 18 hole golf courses, and is located just outside of Houston, TX. The East Course has a tight daunting look to it, due to the number of trees along its 5,440 yard course. Meanwhile, the West course has 6,702 yards, and is much more wide open than the East Course. Green Meadows is a family oriented golf course. There is no alcohol allowed on the premises. At Green Meadows what you see is what you get.
