Florida Disney Vacation

Three Disney Timeshare Resorts for Peace and Quiet

Considering a Disney timeshare purchase in Florida but concerned about getting locked into the hustle and bustle of the parks? Not to worry. In Florida alone, Disney provides owners several options for a laid-back escape. All include minimal character theming but retain the "Welcome Home" feel with which Disney spoils its owners.

Go Back in Time to Old Key West

As one example, take Disney's first-ever timeshare property, Old Key West. For those in the know, it's a find.

Why? First, the property's lush landscaping maintains a secluded atmosphere, reminiscent of the resort's namesake island. Explore it at your leisure by renting bicycles right on property, or treat yourself to a full round of golf at the on-site course.

Second, Old Key West has the largest units in all of Disney timeshare. Even a one-bedroom unit gets you plenty of elbow room: about 1,000 square feet.

The sprawling quality of Old Key West's units carries onto your expansive, covered porch, each of which is almost a vacation in and of itself. With their ceiling fans and lighting, these are porches that invite you to bask in the balmy Florida weather, well into the evening.

Inside your unit, the inviting atmosphere continues, with spacious baths equipped with jetted tubs, full-sized appliances and even your own laundry room. For those who need space to unwind, this is a Disney property that has it in spades.

Want an evening out? No problem. Downtown Disney is a quick trip away via a Disney water taxi.

Sleep in a Tree House

The TreeHouse Villas at the Saratoga Springs Resort are another memorable Florida getaway for Disney Vacations Club owners. There's nothing else like these three-bedroom units among all the Disney timeshare properties.

Each TreeHouse Villa is set 10 feet up from ground level. For a real Swiss Family Robinson feel, the units' octagonal shape, open floorplan and windows all around immerse you in the experience of being tucked into the treetops. As you'd almost expect, the third bedroom has bunk beds.

The fully refurbished TreeHouse Villas are hardly rustic, though. Each now has granite countertops in the kitchen and both baths, with a flat-screen TV gracing the living room and each of the three bedrooms.

As at Old Key West, you can easily combine the getaway feel of your TreeHouse Villas stay with evenings out at Downtown Disney. Once again, you're just a pleasant ride away via the water taxis, which have a dedicated stop at the TreeHouse Villas section.

Escape to the Ocean

For even more seclusion, leave Lake Buena Vista altogether for Disney's Vero Beach Resort, less than two hours south of Walt Disney World. Stay at the property's Inn and select an oceanview hotel room for wonderful, at-the-sea atmosphere.

If you prefer more space, many one-bedroom units and two-bedroom lockoffs here have ocean views as well. You also can reserve Disney's ultimate in tranquil Florida beach getaways here, in the form of one of the six two-story, three-bedroom Beach Cottages.

Each Beach Cottage has a front porch with a three-person swing and an oceanfront balcony in the back. Inside, the living room and its expansive views of the sea takes up the entire upper floor of the cottage. Many say there is no better find among Disney Vacations Club's Grand Villas.

Of course, owners wanting to get even further away can head to Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort or to Aulani, on Oahu. But as the above three gems demonstrate, unexpected serenity can be found even on a Disney vacation that never leaves Florida.
